    / THAMBILI /

‘Thambili’ as known to locals is king coconut, an orange prized fruit. Stop-by any king coconut street seller, who will cut open the fruit for the juice or slit open its outer shell so as to scoop the inner white flesh. Famous for its ayurvedic properties, the fruit is generally made into an oil and utlised in its many derivatives.

The coconuts are plucked by a picker, who uses a rope to tie their legs together and winch themselves up the long trunk of the tree.
